The West African Black Rhino has been officially declared extinct

 

There are only 5 Northern White Rhinos left on the planet. There is just 1 male Northern White Rhino. He's 42 years old and probably can't mate to save his species. The preservationists have actually removed the horns so they aren't targeted and they are guarded 24/7.

Scientists hope they can transplant an embryo into another species to have a surrogate give birth to save the species.
