Her twee '50s style dresses became almost as ubiquitous as her brash but beguiling pop ditties. more pics after the cut
But it seems like Taylor Swift, now 24, is plotting a new course in her style adventures as she rocked up to the Academy of Country Music Awards red carpet in an outfit that oozed sophistication and grown-up sexiness.
Featuring a simple but effective crop-top with cut-outs on the shoulders, the trim 5ft10 singer let her midriff do the talking and added a flash of a long leg from her long skirt - both by J Mendel.
However, while Taylor may have won plaudits for her outfit choice for the evening, she ended up going home empty-handed from the awards - despite having been up for a staggering five gongs.
But after failing to win any Grammys at the awards in January, the blonde singer was once again left embarrassed when she failed to take home any gongs at the ACMs - one of the country music industry's most prestigious events.
At least Taylor was a winner in the fashion stakes, however, teaming her monochrome look with a slick of her signature red lipstick.
Movie star: Taylor looked like she stepped straight off the silver screen
Her jewellery was old Hollywood, almost Art Deco when it came to the Marina B earrings, and the girlish fringe and ponytail replaced by Marlene Dietrich-style bobbed waves.
Taylor's on a 15 week break from her critically acclaimed world tour, which is also entitled, Red.
She also has a cameo role in new Weinstein flick, The Giver, based on the novel by Lois Lowry.
Grown-up: Taylor's upgrading her look and seemed more confident than ever in the monochrome two-piece
Siren: Taylor had the requisite red lipstick and smoky eyes
Fan power: Taylor happily posed for selfies with her loyal army

That is a drop in the ocean for Taylor, who Forbes estimates is worth some $220 million.
Taylor is due to go back out on the road on May 30 when she will play in Shanghai, China. She kicked off the tour in support of her award-winning album Red on March 13, 2013 in Omaha, Nebraska and is due to end on June 12 in Singapore.
Girlish no more: Taylor is now all woman, and her fashion style is changing
Meanwhile, Jamie Lynn Spears stepped out of her sister's shadow to confidently strut the red carpet.
The official Social Media Correspondent, Jamie Lynn flashed her wedding rings after tying the knot last month.
The 23-year-old arrived in a short, flirty, patterned dress which she paired with eye-catching bright heels.
She kept her accessories simple, with all attention on the large silver cuff on her wrist and the dress showed off her toned pins.

Newlyweds: Jamie Lynn tied the knot with 31-year-old James Watson in New Orleans last month
Jamie Lynn's long blonde hair - most like hair extensions like her sister favours - was left loose around her shoulders.
The starlet tied the knot with James Watson in New Orleans last month with her five-year-old daughter Maddie acting as flower girl while Britney was a bridesmaid.
Blonde beauty: The starlet appears to favour extensions just like her sister Britney and sported a head of bouffant hair
Jamie Lynn wore an elegant white lace gown with floral detail, a fishtail cut and a dramatic lacy veil, changing her look from ceremony to reception by letting her blonde locks down.
Maddie wore a matching but miniature version of her mother's dress, and the pair both carried pastel coloured rose bouquets.
Support: James was on hand to support his new wife on her big night at the ACM awards in Las Vegas
Meanwhile Britney was clad in a floor-length, form-fitting grey bridesmaid dress, and their mother wore her own white gown.
Jamie Lynn was previously engaged to Casey Aldridge, the father of her daughter, before they ended their relationship four years ago.
Surprise attendee: Shakira, who has collaborated
with her The Voice co-star and country music superstar Blake Shelton,
on her latest album, arrived in a revealing full-length dress with
cut-out panels down the sides
Getting cosy with a legend: Shakira shared a hug with Stevie Nicks as they met on the red carpet at the awards ceremony
It has now been six years since Jamie Lynn fell pregnant with Maddie at the age of 16 while starring on Zoey 101.
And it seems that the plan is for marriage to come before any further babies at this point.
As well as her nuptials and following her successful single, Jamie Lynn is preparing to release a country album.
Knockout: Miranda Lambert was a knockout,
looking better and slimmer than ever in a plunging nude dress which
showed off her incredible figure
King
and Queen: Miranda and her husband Blake Shelton, the reigning royal
couple of country music, looked sensational on the red carpet
And the awards ceremony would be nothing without the king and queen of country music.
Miranda Lambert has been working hard to shed pounds the natural way, adamantly denying going under the knife.
And she was a knockout on Sunday night on the red carpet at the awards in Las Vegas, looking better and slimmer than ever in a plunging nude dress which showed off her incredible figure.
Taking the plunge: Kellie Pickler was dressed to impress in a strapless lavender gown
The country music star was glowing as she posed beside her husband Blake Shelton, who is co-hosting the event with Luke Bryan.
Blake didn't even attempt to compete with his gorgeous wife and went semi-casual in jeans with a blazer, suit and waistcoat.
Playful: Kelly pouted and posed for the cameras as she took her turn in the spotlight
Generous: Kelly, who shaved her head in 2012 in
an act of solidarity with her childhood best friend, who was diagnosed
with breast cancer, showed off her cute blonde bob
Shakira, who has collaborated with her The Voice co-star and country music superstar Blake, on her latest album, arrived in a revealing full-length dress with cut-out panels down the sides.
It showed off every inch of her flawless figure and featured a patterned bodice.
Blonde beauty: Sheryl Crowe was impeccable on the red carpet in a floor length black gown with an interesting pattern
The star's long blonde hair tumbled in loose waves around her shoulders.

All white on the night: Carrie Underwood went
for a bridal inspired fringed white dress for one of country music's
biggest nights
Belle of the ball: Kacey Musgraves, who was a double winner at the Grammy Awards, dressed to impress on her big night
Meanwhile, although George Strait is thought to be a sure bet in the entertainer category of the year at the Academy of Country Music Awards, Shelton isn't so sure.
While the beloved star is on something of a victory lap after winning the same trophy at the rival Country Music Association Awards five months ago, Blake thinks he could have some competition.
Stunning: The country starlet turned pop princess pulled out all the stops for her red carpet appearance
Sunday's night's ACM Awards are held in Las Vegas where there's no safe bet, after all, and the academy's once-controversial decision to open its top honor to fan voting makes the category enjoyably unpredictable.
'I think George Strait probably has the biggest overall fan base of any of us, but will they take time to vote?' Shelton said. 'That's what we'll find out, I guess.'
'It's an interesting thing,' said Luke Bryan, Shelton's ACMs co-host.
Sequinned stars: Carrie and Miranda cosied up on the red carpet in their sequinned gowns
'You never know when those fans go online and vote. They have the complete power. It's really neat when they do. It's a pretty crazy validation system when the fans are allowed to vote.'
Bryan and Shelton could be 1989 winner Strait's top challengers during the awards, which air live at 8 p.m. EDT from the MGM Grand on CBS.
They round out the category with two-time winner Taylor Swift and mainstream country darling Lambert.
Taylor Swift is one of pop music's top stars with a motivated fan base and Lambert is one of the academy's favorites with 15 trophies so far and is this year's two top nominee with Tim McGraw.
Glamorous: Faith Hill and Tim McGraw also put on their glad rags to walk the red carpet in Las Vegas
Bryan and Shelton, however, are as popular as anyone in the genre now.
Shelton is a television star thanks to The Voice and won his first entertainer trophy at the CMAs.
And Bryan provided one of the award show circuit's true surprises when he won the award at the ACMs last year during his first stint as Shelton's co-host.
Shelton said he predicted the victory in the seconds before it was announced and provides a measuring stick for Bryan's rapidly growing popularity.
'When that happened it's like, oh, my god, it's not just a matter of selling a bunch of records and having some hits on the radio,' Shelton said.
We didn't know you were a country music fan! The
Newsroom's Olivia Munn was a surprise guest at the awards, in a daring
pink dress
'He's developed an enormous fan base. To beat out the people that he beat out last year, there's nothing you can do but just respect that.
'That's once in a lifetime and they're there forever. To see him to get to that place, I love it. I was just as excited - well not as excited because I didn't cry - but I was happy for him.'
