She certainly hasn’t shied away from embracing the art aspect of her new album ARTPOP.

And as she gears up for the release of her third studio album Lady Gaga has opened up about the relationship between art and pop.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with O2 for MailOnline the 27-year-old tried to define the album, as it becomes available for O2 users six days before its general release in the UK.

Looking remarkably under-dressed in a checked shirt, the New Yorker says in the video: 'How would I define ARTPOP? Well I’d define it in lots of different ways. On the album I say "we could belong together ARTPOP", so in the simplest way I would say the dream of these two things belonging, art and pop together but with art in the front.
She continued: ‘We sort of like to say if we can belong together you and I, or me and my fans – if we can belong together in this room and make love then maybe our dream of these two things – art and pop- belonging together, maybe that could come true.
‘So the intention of the album was to put art culture into pop music, a reverse of Warhol. Instead of putting pop onto the canvas, we wanted to put the art onto the soup can.’

During the build-up to the release of the album the Applause singer has been seen in a variety of eye-catching and art inspired outfits.
She kicked things off in a willowy white dress for a piece of performance art in Berlin and has since adopted variations on a similar theme for arrival in London, followed shortly afterwards by a performance at G-A-Y - during which she stripped off.
The  singer also drilled home the Botticelli theme that provided the inspiration for her latest track by wearing a Birth Of Venus print dress from Dolce & Gabbana for a rehearsal.

Her most bizarre dress however was perhaps one made of finely shaved wood which had a vaguely shamanistic air and echoed her appearance on the cover art for Applause – the lead single from her forthcoming album.
And after having left Europe, Gaga has kept up the bizarre outfits wearing a  bizarre and very toothy grill as she attended the YouTube Music Awards on Sunday in New York.
She teamed the teeth with a wide-brim black hat and a leather shirt, as well as her trademark platform black heels.
