She was perhaps hoping that they would put all their troubles behind them and live happily ever after.
But Ferne McCAnn was left sorely disappointed in Wednesday's episode of The Only Way Is Essex as Charlie Sims told her once and for all that he could no longer be with her.
The reality star dissolved into sobs as her ex-boyfriend hit her with his final blow and failed to stop as she cried: ‘If you walk out now that’s it for ever.’

While the rest of the cast attended Little Chris’s birthday party Charlie arrived at Ferne’s house to have the conversation which has been looming since Las Vegas when they ended up sleeping together despite his revelation that he had slept with about twenty women.
Sitting on the sofa he began: ‘I’m really sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you.’
Looking on the verge of tears Ferne told him ‘actions speak louder than words’.
Truth: Charlie Sims kept it short as he told Ferne he could no longer be with her
Head to head: While the rest of the cast attended a party the pair sat down to talk things through
Too much: It didn't take long for the pretty star to become overcome with emotion
She continued: ‘I was number 21, that’s all I am now. I feel like you’ve changed. Do you think you’ve changed?’
Charlie admitted that he thought they had both changed and seen aspects of each other they both didn’t like in the last couple of months.
Ferne told him: 'I don’t want to be upset anymore. I’m feeling all this pain and you are the only person who can take this pain away.’
What she hoped?: The outcome was perhaps not what Ferne had been expecting

However Charlie had other ideas and told her: ‘I think at the moment this won’t work and if we’re meant to be together we’ll come back together.’
As Ferne broke down sobbing he uttered: ‘You were never a number, you were always more than that.’
After begging him to stay and discuss the situation Ferne wept inconsolably as he left the house for good.
Meanwhile the episode began with Lucy coming out of the bedroom wearing Tom’s T-shirt and telling Arg and Diags, who had come to visit their pal, that she had heard everything they were saying about her.

House hunting: Sam helped Elliot pick out a place to live while back in Essex
Jasmin and Abi were seen driving to work discussing the situation with Charlie and Jasmin revealed she is finding it hard all the abuse she is getting.
Breaking down in tears the pretty brunette said: ‘I’m not used to girls hating me so much’
Later in the day Jasmin stopped off to get a coffee and bumped into Ferne. Before Ferne could get a word in, Jasmin said: ‘I know you girls have a bit of problem with me. Before you start I want to know why.’

Jasmin then went on to say that she heard Ferne had slept with Charlie again and that 'girl to girl' she didn’t think Ferne should have done that after he admitted to sleeping with twenty girls.
Things quickly turned nasty as Ferne was not happy about the unwelcome advice and told Jasmin the only reason she doesn’t sleep with men was because they ‘long her off’ before it gets to that.
Sam meanwhile was seen helping Elliot house hunt, telling him she had to help to ensure it had the 'woman’s touch'.
Truth: Sam told Elliot that she would need to talk to Joey to sort things out
Unworried: Despite Sam's apparent feelings for Joey still Elliot was still more than happy to kiss her
During the house hunting trip Elliot confronted Sam about texting Joey and she said she asked him if he was still in love with her, but she couldn’t explain why.
But that didn’t seem to bother Elliot who said he still wanted to take her out for a drink if she still did.
And that evening as their date came to an end Sam told Elliot that she needed to talk to Joey, which he agreed with before leaning in for a kiss.
Elsewhere Joey spoke to his cousin Chloe about Sam's constant calls to him, and her flirty texts.

New leaf?: Mario showed a new mature side to himself as he told Lauren he wanted to just be friends
Chloe told him: ‘She’s done that with Elliot but now she’s panicking because she still loves you.
Having a rare insightful moment Joey said: ‘I’ll be surprised if it goes any further. I know she don’t want that.’
Mario and Lauren went on a date to make pizza and Mario made a number of jokes about Lauren being older than him.
They then started talking about the party later that night and Mario said he wasn’t looking forward to seeing Tom.
Talking things through: Sam, Billie and Lucy all chatted away during an exercise class
New men: Sam and Lucy spoke about the new men in their lives over a spot of exercise
Gemma went for a walk with Jess and revealed that she was asking planning on asking Bobby to move in with her, as well as him working in her shops a few days a week.
At the party that night she popped the question to him and he replied it was a '100% yes' as long as she starts wearing knickers.
Ricky played basketball with Mario, Charlie and Little Chris and ended up talking about having to go shopping with Elliot because Jessica wants them to bond.

During the shopping Elliot told Ricky as he tried on clothes: ‘Seeing her upset, upsets me.’
At the party later that evening Joey revealed that he got a text from Sam which said: ‘I only see Elliot as a friend but I love you unfortunately.’
Arg told him to text her and say they had to sort it out once and for all and she received the text while on a date with Elliot which he wasn’t happy about.
Meanwhile Tom approached Mario and said he wanted to make sure it wasn’t awkward, now he was dating Lucy.
Bonding: Elliot and Ricky went shopping together to learn more about each other
Agony aunt: As per usual Chloe was on hand to offer advice to both Joey and Charlie
Mario told him: ‘As long as you look after her and treat her well, which I didn’t, it’s fine with me.’
Later on Mario sat down to talk to Lauren about what was going on between them, he said: 'I think you are very beautiful.'
He then went on to say that he thinks they are both being naïve if they think getting together wouldn’t ruin their friendship.
Lauren agreed and said: ‘I don’t want to end up hating you.’
Ending whatever had started Mario told a sad-looking Lauren: ‘I think we can have a good time as friends, as friends who fancy each other.'
Face your fears: Tom ask Mario for a chat, while he stands with Lauren, Frankie and Chloe.
Drama free: For once Jessica wasn't involved in any huge row and instead enjoyed time with Gemma
Moving in: Gemma asked Bobby whether he wanted to move in with her - he said yes
