The newest UK royal, a girl born on Saturday, has been named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. The middle names, of course, hark to her great grandmother, the current queen, and her paternal grandmother, Princess Diana, who died in 1997.
Charlotte, a feminine form of Charles, is likely a nod to her grandfather, Prince Charles.
Charlotte Elizabeth Diana is fourth in line to the throne -- after Prince Charles; her father, Prince William, and her brother, Prince George.
She will be called Princess Charlotte of Cambridge. Her mother is Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Charlotte was among the U.K. bookmakers' favorites before the announcement. Alice was another, followed closely by Victoria and Elizabeth, according to gaming site Ladbrokes.

Tragedy: Police Corporal Kills Inspector, Girl-friend, And HimSelf Over Love

An argument between a police corporal and his senior colleague, an inspector, over who actually owns a pretty female recharge card seller, ended in tragedy when the corporal corked his riffle, killed the card seller and the inspector, before killing himself.
The incident occurred yesterday evening in the Karu Town, near the CBN Junction, when the corporal, who claimed he was interested in the recharge card seller, simply known as Chidinma, saw the inspector and the recharge seller sitting together over some bottles of soft drinks.
According to an eye witness, the corporal alighted from a vehicle and accosted the inspector and the recharge card seller. While he accused the inspector of encroaching into his territory, he accused the lady of unfaithfulness, saying he had invested in the girl.
The inspector ,who regarded the corporal’s allegation as an affront, ordered him to leave the place immediately or get himself dealt with. The corporal was said to have been enraged and threatened that he was going to kill the recharge card seller so that none of them would have her.
The inspector did not take the threat lightly and warned the corporal not to do any thin stupid or he would have himself to blame. The corporal, still fuming with rage walked away from the inspector and the recharge card seller. Unknown to the inspector, the corporal corked his AK-47 rifle, walked to the duo lovebirds and killed the girl with one shot.
Before the inspector could cork his own riffle, the corporal also shot and killed him instantly. Looking bemused, the corporal aimed the riffle at his own head and killed himself with one bullet.
It was said to have broken out in the town as residents and passers-by thronged the place to take a glimpse of the three slain persons lying in a pool of their blood. A team of police personnel later came and evacuated the bodies of the slain.
The recharge card seller was identified as a poor homeless girl who was taking refuge in a popular church in Karu Town before.The rank and file within the Nigerian Police are mostly frustrated men and women who joined the Police work due to poverty. They think like animals and behave like animals. The senior police officers from ASP are far more decent and sociable and their conduct will tell you they are educated.

2 reasons why the Presidency is at war with Mu’azu, PDP leaders
The reasons for the lingering crisis between President Goodluck Jonathan and his aides against the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, is gradually beginning to unravel.
Lately, some PDP governors and chieftains have repeatedly called for the resignation of party Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu and other members of the NWC over the party’s poor election performance.
However, the acrimony is said to be beyond that, with sources of Vanguard newspapers, revealing that it is mostly about the control of the party ahead of the 2019 presidential election.
It is believed that associates and aides of President Jonathan are hell bent on pushing out the Adamu Mu‘azu-led NWC in order to ensure the return of President Jonathan as presidential candidate in 2019.
A high-level official was quoted to have said: “The thinking in the president’s camp is that after four years, Buhari would have done very badly and Nigerians would demand the return of President Jonathan and the president’s people know that there is no way he can get the ticket through the present NWC.”
On the flipside, the NWC is apparently not interested in fielding Jonathan, as they are reportedly looking to select someone from the Northeast for the 2019 presidential candidate.
Another reason for the rift between the PDP NWC and the Presidency is the purported refusal of Mu‘azu to reject the outcome of the presidential election.
After the president had conceded defeat and accepted the outcome of the election, Mu’azu was advised by Presidency officials to formally reject the election result and instigate judicial proceedings against the presidential elections.
Due to the Chairman’s refusal, he was suspected and even accused of being a mole of the All Progressives Congress, hence the initial calls for his resignation.
The president’s aides also believe that the NWC is not entirely disposed to the idea of Jonathan returning in 2019, hence the frantic efforts being made to push out the members of the committee.
Disturbing: Mother Allegedly Tortured Son For Greeting A Neighbour.
A nine-year-old boy, identified only as Kingsley, was on Thursday abandoned at a filling station at Adetola bus stop on Ijaiye Road, Agbado, Lagos State, by his mother.
It was learnt that the mother, Blessing, allegedly tortured him for greeting a neighbour.
She was said to have brought the boy from Ojuelegba, where they live and dumped him at the station around 7am.
Punch Metro gathered that Blessing left the area after telling the child that she wanted to buy some items at a nearby shop.
Some Good Samaritans, however, later bought food for the kid before he was taken to the Ijaiye Police Station around 11am.Kinglsey’s body was full of scars for which he held his mother responsible.
“Mummy beat me because I greeted our neighbour. She and the neighbour are quarrelling and she warned me not to greet her. She beat me with a stick when she saw me with the woman,” Kingsley said.The primary two pupil said he had been a victim of malnutrition and abuse since his parents divorced each other.
“My mother and I moved to Lagos from Calabar (Cross River State) after she divorced my daddy.“I live in Ojuelegba with her and my stepfather, Jonathan. She beats me every day.An employee of the filling station, who gave his name only as Deji, lamented Kingsley’s situation. He said the mother would be attacked by an angry mob if she came back.
“She will give me lashes for not waking up early to do domestic chores. At times, she won’t give me food to punish me.”
“I don’t know what the world is turning to. When some families are still praying to have children, a mother is maltreating her own to the point of dumping him. What could he have done to warrant being treated in such a heartless manner?A Good Samaritan, who did not want his name in print, said he saw the boy sitting helplessly in a corner in the filling station.He added that the boy was so hungry that he gulped the food and drink that were bought for him.
“This place was crowded in the morning and we did not know when she dumped him. He was sitting in a tricycle when I approached him. Some angry youths just left here. They would have given his mother the beating of her life if she had come back.”
He said, “I was coming back from the office and popped over to buy petrol.The Supervisor of the filling station, Adeola Olufunwa, said she was nearly detained at the station on the matter.
“I saw the boy sitting in a corner. There was blood in his head and hands. We decided to buy him rice and a drink. He was taken to the Ijaiye Police Station and they promised to take him to hospital to treat his injuries.”
She said, “I was the one who noticed the boy’s presence around us and I alerted my colleagues.
“But funny enough, the police wanted to detain me for a case I knew nothing about.”

Boko Haram: Many rescued girls pregnant – UNFPA
According to reports, a large number of girls rescued fromBoko Haram have been found to be pregnant.
This revelation was reportedly made on Sunday, May 3, by the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund(UNFPA), Babatunde Osotimehin.
According to Vanguard, unofficial reports put the number of visibly pregnant girls at 214.
Osotimehin is said to have given the indication while providing updates on the response to the rehabilitation of the rescued women and children, said the organization.
“What we found is that some of the women and girls that have come back actually have much more in terms of the stress they have faced, so the counselling has to be more intense and working with them one-on-one,” he said.
“I’m glad the communities are not excommunicating them and are taking them back. That is an important therapy too. We anticipate this is going to escalate because the military intervention is continuing, we find that more people are now needing our services and we will continue,” he added.
“Beyond that, in the growing young people, we will always have pregnant women, but nobody segregates the needs of the pregnant women which are very important and different from the needs of the average community. We look after them, and ensure they get antenatal care and that they deliver properly and that they even get Caesarean Section when necessary,” Osotimehin said.
He also stated that the organization in collaboration with the Federal and state governments had undertaken the enormous task of restoring the dignity of the girls, who, he said, are facing severe psychosocial trauma.
Buhari will shock Nigerians
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and the party’s senatorial candidate for the Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial district, Chief Inibehe Okori, has said that the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, will shock critics with his pronouncements on May 29.
Speaking in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, on Sunday, Okori stated that Buhari would prove to Nigerians and the international community that corruption would be checked as soon as the president-elect settled down to work.
He added that Buhari’s proclamation, dedication and discipline will go a long way in restoring hope, faith and confidence of the citizens in the country.
He said, “Unlike other presidents who were not prepared for leadership but foisted on the country by individuals and interest groups, the President-elect has consistently presented himself to the electorate to lead the country on four occasions and had his visions well enunciated.
“Buhari is taking over government on May 29 and from that day, I expect that he will make major pronouncements that will position Nigeria for greatness. This country must have a direction and move in the way it should. We don’t have any reason to be poor. We have no reason to remain the way we are – not after earning more than $50bn annually from oil and gas.”
Explaining that the expectations of the people from the incoming administration were high, he noted that there was the need for Nigerians to be patient with Buhari’s administration because “Rome was not built in a day.”
He said that within the period of one year of Buhari’s presidency, the international perception about the country would change and Nigeria would regain her rightful place in the comity of nations.
Okori lamented the poor state of the Uyo-Afaha-Nkan-Nkwot- Nnung-Ukum Road which had remained motorists’ nightmare, regretting that the people of Ikono were made to suffer untold hardship from “a government that claimed it had already completed the road at the cost of N26.4bn in the 2014 budget.”
