A bomb reportedly went off this morning at the Maiduguri Monday market in Borno state, just a week after the same market was bombed by Boko Haram
Explosion reportedly rocks Federal Prison in Ekiti state
According to a breaking news report by Radio Continental, an explosion rocked the Federal Prison in Ado- Ekiti in Ekiti state this morning. The report says many inmates escaped, some were recaptured.
Just In: Boko Haram invades Damaturu, attacks State University!
Gunshots in Damaturu, Yobe State. It is not clear what the details of the situation are but many believe members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect are making a move to take over the state capital after overrunning Mubi, another town in the North east state.
According to Jonathan Gopep, a Channels TV correspondent in Damaturu, the attack started some minutes before 6am on Monday morning. He said,
“Many people are running helter-skelter. I would be honest with you; the military are here but they are being professional… careful not to harm civilians.”
We are yet to get an official confirmation of the said siege. The call by the Federal Government for an extension of Emergency Rule in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa has met with stiff opposition in the National Assembly but deliberations are still ongoing to find a lasting solution to the lingering impasse.
James Ibori's daughter wins PDP House of Assembly ticket in Delta
The daughter of former governor of Delta state James Ibori, Ms Erhiatake Ibori has won the PDP House of Assembly ticket for Ethiope West constituency. Ms Ibori clinched the party's ticket during the state PDP primaries which held this past Saturday November 29th. Other contenders for the ticket boycotted the primaries making her emerge the winner.

AMAA Founder, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe's brother shot dead by armed robbers
Michael Anyiam-Osigwe the older brother of AMAA (African Movie Academy Awards) founder Peace Anyiam-Osigwe and one of the sons of late Igbo billionaire Chief Anyiam Osigwe was shot by armed robbers on Saturday November 29th on the Ore-Benin expressway. He was reportely rescued alive from the scene of the robbery but later died in hospital.
Michael Anyiam-Osigwe was the Coordinator of the Anyiam-Osigwe Group and Secretary to the Supervisory Board. He had a first degree in Economics and then a Masters Degree in Social Anthropology and Ethnomusicology from Goldsmiths College, University of London.

Gunmen storm Damaturu this morning, attack Yobe state university
Gunmen, suspected to be members of Boko Haram, this morning stormed Damaturu, and their first port of call was the Yobe State University located in Damaturu. The attack, which was ongoing as at 7.30am today, has seen residents of the town scampering for safety in confusion.
According to reports, the mobile Police base which is in the outskirts of the town has been burnt down by the rampaging gunmen who are now reportedly advancing to the main town of Damaturu.
Yobe state university students have now taken to the bushes in different directions for safety. More details later

Davido reacts to not winning at Channel O Awards yesterday
Davido lost out in the 5 categories he was nominated in at the 2014 Channel O Music Video Awards. He shared a 15-second video on his instagram page thanking fans for their continued support and promised to come back harder. Below is what he said...
