AMAA Founder, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe's brother shot dead by armed robbers

Michael Anyiam-Osigwe the older brother of AMAA (African Movie Academy Awards) founder Peace Anyiam-Osigwe and one of the sons of late Igbo billionaire Chief Anyiam Osigwe was shot by armed robbers on Saturday November 29th on the Ore-Benin expressway. He was reportely rescued alive from the scene of the robbery but later died in hospital.

Michael Anyiam-Osigwe was the Coordinator of the Anyiam-Osigwe Group and Secretary to the Supervisory Board. He had a first degree in Economics and then a Masters Degree in Social Anthropology and Ethnomusicology from Goldsmiths College, University of London.

May his soul rest in peace, amen.

Gunmen storm Damaturu this morning, attack Yobe state university

Gunmen, suspected to be members of Boko Haram, this morning stormed Damaturu, and ‎their first port of call was the Yobe State University located in Damaturu. The attack, which was ongoing as at 7.30am today, has seen residents of the town scampering for safety in confusion.

According to reports, the mobile Police base which is in the outskirts of the town has been burnt down by the rampaging gunmen who are now reportedly advancing to the main town of Damaturu.

Yobe state university students have now taken to the bushes in different directions for safety. More details later

Kano Mosque bomb blast victims in need of blood

According to the North West Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Authority NEMA, Musa Illamah, most of the victims of the Central Mosque Kano bomb blast that happened on Friday Nov 28th are in dire of blood and consumables

"We went round the hospitals to assess the conditions of those who are receiving treatment and we were told that what they need most is blood and consumables. I spoke with the officials of the Federal Ministry of Health and and they have assured me that they would mobilize blood bank in Katsina to supply blood to the hospital" he told newsmen

Residents in Kano have been trooping to the various hospitals where the victims are being treated to donate blood.

Boko Haram attacks Shani in Borno state, many feared dead

Many people are feared dead after Boko Haram members attacked Shani local government in Borno state around 9pm yesterday night Nov 29th. A residents of the village said the sect members arrived their community on 10 motorcycles and immediately started shooting at people

"They came in about 10 motorcycles from Gwaskara axis well armed with Ak47 rifles Improvised Explosive Devices and petrol bombs wrecking havoc without confrontation as there were no military operatives or police to assist the armless civilians who were running helter-skelter for their dear lives. As I speak to you now, I left my people running towards Pakaina village for safety. It is only God that will know what is happening with the sporadic gunshots that engulfed the entire council area,” Mallam Babayo Ardo, a resident of the town told our National Mirror on phone.

Darren Wilson, the officer who shot and killed unarmed teen Michael Brown has resigned from the Ferguson Police force. Wilson resigned yesterday November 29th, 5 days after a grand jury decided not to indict him in the fatal shooting of Brown. Though he has been on administrative leave since the incident on August 9th.

40 passengers of a commercial plane survived death today in Ilorin the capital city of Kwara State.

Former Ilorin University VC, and House of Rep. member Ali Dodo as well as Professor Oloyede Ishaq were few of the passengers who survived the crash.

According to NAN, the crash happened around 4:35pm on Saturday.

The plane was said to be heading to Lagos when it crash-landed due to faulty front tyres.

Jude 'Engees' Okoye, the older brother and manager of P-Square has welcomed a baby girl with his wife, Ify. Ify gave birth at 7.29pm at Northside Hospital Atlanta, Georgia, yesterday Saturday Nov. 29th. Mother and daughter are doing great.

The little bundle of joy has been named Princess Emma Adanna Okoye. Big big congrats to them.
