The Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade has died. The monarch is believed to have died in the United Kingdom where he was allegedly flown since Friday for treatment of an undisclosed ill health. Late Sijuwade became the fiftieth ruler of the ancient kingdom of Ife, popularly referred to as the cradle and source of the Yoruba, in 1980. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
